Have you experienced Jesus?

Knowledge is different from experience because knowledge exists in the head and may not have anything to do with experience. The knowledge of Jesus is quite different from the experience of Him. This is why it is possible to spend one's whole life knowing about the truths of God and never experiencing any of them. The former seems more appealing to some Christians than the latter and so, there are some people who have acquired several degrees in different areas of theology (Theology is simply the study of God), but who do not have much experience of God. Of what use is such knowledge? What is the relevance of biblical quotations that exist solely in the head and does not have bearing with the daily life of a Christian? Ideas about God fantastic though they may look are meaningless if they cannot find expression in experience.

Dear reader, the point is that you need to experience Jesus and allow him take full charge of your life. Your Christianity should go deeper than what people say about Jesus or what you know about Him, it should consider how close you are to Him, how much absolved you're in Him. It means you must let go of every obstacle in your life to let Jesus into your life; follow the way of the scripture and commit yourself to Jesus through prayer.

When God Speaks

Reading through the creation account, we see quite clearly what God's words can do. When God speaks,there is always a difference. From nothing God spoke creation into existence. God's ways of bringing things into existence has been by his words. And whenever he speaks, a change is made. God does not negotiate with situations or with any person before he speaks. God's words are usually commanding and nothing defies his command. When God speaks he makes sure that his words become reality.

When Jesus came to the earth as a human being, he continued this same "talk and do" (Ekwu eme) system. And so, "whenever Jesus spoke, what He said came to pass. Lepers found that a word from Jesus meant healing (Luke 5:13;17:14). The blind man discovered that a word from Jesus meant sight (Luke 18:42). Through a barren fig tree the disciples saw that a curse from Jesus meant destruction (Mark 11:20). The sinner experienced forgiveness through a word from Jesus (John 8:11). How many attempts did it take Jesus to raise Lazarus from the dead? Only one (John 11:43). There was never a time that Jesus spoke that what He said did not happen".
The same words of God have the same effect on your life. His words still heal; they still transform and renew. His words still destroy the power of the enemy around your life. When he speaks on your life a change is realized. The next time you read your bible try to discover what words Jesus is addressing to you. Don't be satisfied merely with the letters of those words. See the power behind them and the person that is speaking. So approach your bible with prayer.

Believe God for your Future

When Joseph became a king in the land which the jealousy and wickedness of his brothers had taken him to, he was treated as a king by even those brothers of his who treated him as such. His brothers did not recognize him because they had not believed him. When he was sharing his vision and dream with them, they felt he was too small for such dreams. His presence around them was a great challenge. It was because they did not believe Joseph's potentiality that was why they could not recognize him in actuality.

You cannot recognize anybody in actuality whom you fail to believe in potentiality. When people fail to believe your dreams and visions, do not be discouraged. Do not give them up. Pursue them rather. When people are jealous of your talent, your refuge is God, who alone understands you. Your future does not depend on people's view. People can only make predictions about you. Predictions can be falsified. People make predictions based on observations. But your future is not built on observations but on God's plans. When God has finished with you, people will not recognize you.

The Word of God

When you hold the bible in your hands, do you grasp the richness of the word of God? The word of God is a powerful treasure that God has given to humanity. By the reason of the word of God, we can climb up to heaven and settle a case through prayer, we can unite the entire world, we can command favours to lie in front of us, we can brush the devil off our way and arrive at a destination designed by God. Through the word of God, we can react rightly to every situation. This discovery should not take your breath away because the bible already tells us that the word of God is God. He took flesh and dwells among us (Jn 1:14).

The God-made-man is present in every Word in the bible because none of them came by the will of man but through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. "All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim 3:16-17). So, as you read the word of God, you are actually drawing strength from Jesus who is the word himself and as you open your bible daily, your hands are being filled with power and everything you touch is blessed. Again, reading the bible every day, you gain wisdom for life because Jesus is the wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:24). So, it is right to conclude that our foolishness has been as a result of ignorance of the Word of God (Hos 4:6). It is the kind of ignorance that destroys and casts a soul into hell. It is the kind of ignorance that makes a child of God to run from those who should be running from them and to fear those who should be afraid of them. It is the kind of ignorance that places one under subjugation of the devil. Unfortunately, many people are already in this mess. Deliverance would have to come through one means hearing the word. The scripture says that faith comes by hearing the word of God (Rom 10:17). This is true because it is what we listen to or what we hear, consciously or unconsciously, that forms us. We are actually products of our environment, the mentality around us and the atmosphere around us. If we build our lives on the Word of God, if we stock our minds with God's Eternal Truth, if everything around us is tailored towards the word of God, then, we shall begin to manifest the Word of God, our lives shall become evidence of the Word of God. Where there is emphasis on the word of God, people grow spiritual.

Alone with God

A child of God needs to spend some time alone with God. When Jacob was returning to meet his brother Esau, who had become very rich, he was trembled. He knew that Esau had the power to take vengeance on him. He knew that the only way to be free from the impending doom was to stay alone with God. Then he sent all his wives, children, sheep, oxen, camels, and donkeys ahead of him. And he was left alone with God.
He wrestled with God through the night. Eventually, he was blessed by God. Sometimes, we need to sever ourselves from our possessions in order to encounter God. You can set aside some days when you would be alone with God. I am really thrilled by the faith of some couples who spend their Christmas period in Maryland. These people leave the fun and pleasure of Christmas celebrations just to be with the Lord. Today, they are giving their testimonies. Indeed, you too need to set out some time to pour out your heart content to the Lord. You need to approach him alone to ask him to bless you. Jacob said 'I will never let you go unless you bless me'. If you can remain dauntless in your demand to be blessed; God's blessings would fall upon you.
Find time to be alone with the Lord today. If your house is so busy, go to the church and spend some quality time with the Lord. There, unload your heart content to him.

Motivations behind your Actions

Human actions and behaviours are generally motivated and each action or behaviour is determined by the nature of the motives that inform them. The understanding of those motivations helps to determine the genuineness of the actions. As Christians, our actions and behaviours are expected to portray integrity. The integrity of human actions and behaviours are generally dependent on the motivations behind them. The only way to vouch for the integrity of your actions and behaviours is when your motivations accord with the essence of each action and behaviour. In other words, motivation must be informed by the essence of a thing to vouch for its integrity. For example, the main reason why we go to church is to worship God. But if we go to church so as to impress others, it means that our motivations are not right. The necessary question is 'What makes you do what you do?' The integrity of a good action can be jeopardized by a wrong motivation, but a wrong action cannot be guaranteed by a right motivation. We cannot do evil that we may achieve good.  
There are two types of motivation behind every action and behaviour of human beings. The first is proper motivation, which is a motivation that agrees with the true essence of a thing. The second is improper motivation which falls short of the true essence of a thing. The act of charity is a good one but when we do it for the purpose of attracting attention to ourselves, it means that our motivation is not proper. The challenge before us is to place our motivation aright. Let us perform actions for the right reason so that we can receive the reward that go with them.

DEALING WITH THE SPIRIT OF PORTIPHAR'S WIFE

This is a spirit that admires you and tries by all means to stop you from fulfilling your destiny or getting to your destination. It tries to entice you to its side but will kill you if you fail to cooperate. It is satanic agent that makes you work against your faith in God just to make you lose eternity. If he/she fails to achieve the aim, he/she frames you up just to tarnish your image and stop your God-given mission. He/she rejoices at your pain. He/she has no room for repentance. They rejoice at your failure.

LOST BUT FOUND

Suppose a woman has ten silver coins, loses one of them, what does she do? She lights a lamp, sweeps her house and look carefully everywhere until she finds it. When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbours together and says to them "I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND THE COIN I LOST. Let us celebrate". Physically and spiritually we lost our valuables, certificate, wedding rings, jobs, money,  jewelries, shoes, etc. Some of them get lost mysteriously. A lady whose marriage was delayed told me that she was shown her "Ashebi" cloth in the dream looking dusty. In the local "Ogbanje" deliverance, such missing properties are usually seen during the exercise at the depth of rivers. Such missing properties could be used by evil powers to attack us or hinder us from fulfilling our destinies. Today, wherever such properties that belong to us are placed, may they cause disaster and catch fire in Jesus name. Amen.

OLD AGE

An Ika adage has English translation that' evening life is better'. In other words, it may be preferable to suffer as a youth and enjoy at old age. Lamentation 3:27 says "It is good for a man that he bears the yoke in his youth". Jesus said "I must do the work of him who sent me while it is day for the night comes when no man can work". Man makes investment in business and children hoping to fall back to them when he/she could no longer struggle for food. The much you last or stay on earth, God willing depends on the care you receive from people when you are old. Absence of care can take one to his/her early grave. Naomi would have died if Ruth did not come for her. Note that those who care for you at old age may not even be your children you suffered for. Our prayer today is that we shall not spend our old age in misery in Jesus name. Amen.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

If you are a child of God, then you are not alone, Jesus is always with you. Even when you can't see Him, Jesus watches over you. He is there when you rise up from your bed; he is there when you embark on a journey; he is there when you sit in your office; he is there when you are being persecuted. He can never depart from you. When you pass through water or fire, Jesus does not abandon you. He comes into the water and makes you walk across it. He comes into the fire and becomes the fourth man. He turns your mistakes into miracles and directs your steps.

You never need to fear evil. Jesus can never be intimidated by any evil. He has conquered and will continue to conquer, 'And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it" (Col. 2:15). He is bigger than your problems and mightier than your tensions, whether you can see them or not. Is it not clear now how much privileged you are? You are privileged because you are living above defeat and failure. So long as you trust Jesus, you will be protected from every work of the devil. Thrust your life on Him therefore, committing all your ways and desires to the Lord. To be connected to Jesus is to register in the school of victory. The only textbook recommended in that school is the bible. The responsibility that befalls you today, is that you need to connect yourself to Jesus and remain under his divine protection.

AVOID PRESUMPTION

Presumption is a dangerous sin. When King Nebuchadnezzar gave himself over to presumption, he lost the glory, "But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit hardened unto presumption, he was deposed from the throne of his kingdom, and they took his glory from him" (Dan. 5:20). David prayed, "Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins"(Ps.19:13). Saul lost the glory of kingship because of his presumption that God would be happy with him for sparing the life of Agag the king of Amalekite and for bringing spoils for sacrifice. It is very dangerous to presume that we have the backing of God in whatever we do, good or bad. We cannot be sure anything is God's will until God has said so. David knew this very well that he constantly enquired of the Lord, touching anything he wanted to do.
Dear reader, why not behave like David. He would not take any action without receiving a 'go ahead' from God. Why not form the habit of praying before acting. One thing you must not forget is that God has a say in anything that concerns you. Maybe you want to accept somebody as a marital partner, or you are about to embark on a building project or business transaction, confirm from the Lord. Don't think that the Lord will be too slow to give you answer. If He brought the favour, He will truly confirm it. Do not leave your house without confirming from the Lord through prayer. Pray about anything you want to do.

ENEMY OF PROGRESS

David led his men in battle and was successful in all he did, because the Lord was with him. The success of David made Saul to become jealous. As a result, he made several attempts to kill David. But in all God delivered him for the word of God says "There are many affliction of the righteous one but the Lord delivers him from them all". Beloved, no matter the attack on you because of God's blessings around you, remain attached to Jesus and you will see the end of the wicked. There is a saying in Ika that has English translation as "when I sold my properties and put on rags to train my children, you did not see it but now that God has helped me to enjoy the fruit of my labour, you begin to jealous me". When you could not feed, they did not help you but now that God has blessed you they become jealous. Every power fighting you because of God's blessings around you, Holy Ghost fire!!!

Prayer Arrow for Today:

1. O God, fight those fighting my blessings and testimonies.

2. O Lord, protect me and my blessings from demonic attack in Jesus name. Amen.
