DISCOVER YOUR TRUE SELF

When last did you feel so unworthy in God's presence?
When was the last time you felt your limitedness before God?
At those times, when you see yourself below the divine ladder, you are really having a true picture of yourself. The more we discover the greatness of God, the more we see how limited we are. The direct consequence of that is a total trust in the providence of God.
Besides, when we discover how sinful we are and how much at risk our lives are, we feel the need to approach God penitently, asking for forgiveness.
St Paul acknowledges, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). St John affirms this statement by adding that a denial of sin is an act of self deceit (I Jn. 1:8). So, true worship of God leads to a changed life; it leads to repentance and a life of righteousness.
In the case of Isaiah, it was only when he worshipped God that he discovered his limitedness. It was only then that he discovered how unworthy he was. He also saw that the righteousness of men is but a filthy rag before God.
When we have a feeling of self-righteousness, we need to watch our value of God and our closeness with him.

Take a mental consideration of the world in which we live, what sense do you make of it? If you can't dictate a note of evil and immoral manifestation, it means you have a diminished view of God. It means you need to develop an exalted view of God so that you can have a clear picture of sin. You truly need to draw close to God. It is only then that you can discover how much sinful you are.
Do not think you are holy. If you look into your life with the divine searchlight, you would discover that you don't merit the titles they give. Your only expression would be "Woe unto me". God really wants to renew you and take you to a new level in your spiritual endeavours. All he requires from you is a total self-giving. Approach him and lay yourself at his presence. Allow him to scan you so you can have a true picture of yourself and so, be able to make amendments.
